Smart Linking Strategies

I’ve been thinking about how to go about teaching some of you about linking the smart way – and I’ve decided that I’ll just end up driving us all crazy if I go into detail
Since I would rather make you “THINK”, than do just what I say – here are some thoughts for the day.
1.) Many times if you have a sitewide link you only get credit for one link. What’s better to do then – buy 20 links on single pages of themed sites, or buy 1 site wide link on a big site?
The answer could be either – and it’s going to be up to you to track the results. I don’t care just about rankings – I care about traffic!
2.) Should you build links that all point to your home page or should you target deep pages in your site?
The answer in almost every case is both. And as many links from similarly themed sites as you can get.
You can learn a lot from forums, and I’m going to recommend that you spend a few hours this week at sitepoint.com’s forum. It’s a great place to get the skinny from a lot of successful webmasters. You can always ask me questions here or in the other98percent.com forum – but a few minutes reading over at sitepoint can open your eyes to a lot of new possibilities.
